At first glance, this remake of the 1975 Roger Corman cult movie Death Race 2000 looks to be a winner. It features the always entertaining Jason Statham and the always brilliant Joan Allen in a souped up story about a former NASCAR champ who is framed for murder and ends up (car) racing for his life to escape from a nasty prison. But get a load of the domain name: deathracemovie.net. Yup, the studio actually settled on a lame .net domain name! Even if they couldn't get their act together to get deathrace.com, there's no excuse for not having a decent .com domain name of some kind. For instance, deathrace2008.com is arguably a better domain than deathracemovie.net and is also a nice homage to the original movie's title. And guess what, it was available... until I registered it five minutes ago. I'm no cybersquatter, however. I will happily give the domain name to Universal Studios in exchange for an autographed Death Race poster. For now, deathrace2008.com points to Hollywoozy.
